The Peak

Moschino Cheap & Chic Cardigan / Vintage Blouse and Skirt and Bag / Orbit Oxfords

One of the very first things you should do when you arrive in Hong Kong is catch the tram up Victoria Peak to visit what is better known as 'The Peak'. At the top of this mountain you will find a stunning view of Hong Kong which offers views of Central, Victoria Harbor, and the surrounding islands. We didn't get to see its full potential as the only day we could venture up there was when it was overcast and foggy (just my luck of course!), but seeing as there was a cute ice cream store up there with lychee gelato I wasn't complaining. I thought I would take a photo of the tram ticket to show you the view you were suppose to be seeing compared to the very white cloud of fog we were staring at. And stare at it I did... it was a nice break from the intense amount of shopping and humidity down below so I took this chance to unwind, catch my breath, and let my mind wander, even if it was only for a few seconds. I think the majority of the time was spent wondering why I didn't pack more flats (I think the fact I don't own any sandals is starting to become a problem...) and what I could possibly wear in this humidity. Luckily I packed this white maxi skirt as it's one of my go-to summer staples, which I love wearing with these white oxford flats I've probably had forever. This striped cardigan helped to keep me warm in the brisk mountain air and instantly took my outfit from 'lemon meringue' to a 'grandma-sailor', which I'm still trying to figure out is a good or bad thing? I think this foggy view is really just an insight into my confused head space right now.

Asos Pencil Skirt / Zara Top and Perspex Heels / Celine Bag / Michael Kors Watch / Bunny Earrings & Cat Ring from Hong Kong / Vintage Necklace

Every Sunday in Central Hong Kong certain roads are closed off for hundreds of maids who bring their rugs, cushions and even pieces of cardboard to spend the afternoon relaxing with their friends on the street. As it's common for maids to live with the family they work for (which is usually six days a week) it was fascinating to see how these busy streets turn into what looks like a mini festival for just one day. Everyone was enjoying themselves so much that besides the few confused onlookers, no one even noticed Luke and I shooting these photos in the middle of the street.

I spent the afternoon doing some very quick (and extremely impulsive) shopping around Central Hong Kong. I started at The Landmark, a shopping mall home to 200 boutiques spread out over four huge levels. Although the majority of these are high-end boutiques it was lovely to do some serious window shopping, which actually resulted in one of the biggest impulse buys of my life when I visited Celine and later walked out with a bag and three pairs of sunglasses. Before you judge it was my first time in Celine and no one warned me about how much cheaper it is in Hong Kong. Can you believe the sunglasses were only $250 each? I think that alone is reason enough to visit Hong Kong! The Landmark is also attached the The IFC and IFC 2 Shopping Malls, which I would definitely suggest visiting purely for their Zara. The selection they had was even better than the stores I saw in New York/LA and the result will make you want to swing off street poles in the middle of a crowded street. Just make sure you don't have three kilos of shopping in your hand though as these bags quickly turn into Eco-friendly weapons to women walking closely by...
