The first day in Barcelona was just as laid back and casual as this outfit is. Keeping my jet lag at bay, we spent the day moving at quite a relaxed pace which suited me just fine. We met the Mango team who are the lovely ones hosting us for the week, as well the ones flying in one reader of each of the five bloggers for the Welcome Summer Experience. I guess that's one of the best parts about following us on each social media platform as often we create unique content just for that outlet. In this case, Mango offered a three day trip to Barcelona to one of my lucky readers which I shared and promoted exclusively through Instagram. After reading all of your entries I chose the lovely Amanda Espinoza from Thailand as the lucky winner! I got to meet her for the first time last night and after dinner it had me wishing I got to meet all of you so intimately one on one. God that sentence sounded far more awkward than I intended it to but you know what I mean.

On a random note, I don't think photos can really do these trousers enough justice. They're made from this beautiful silk and are even completely lined with this thick and luxurious sheet of satin that feels incredibly nice against your skin. I usually wear more fitted trousers but this style has the perfect relaxed yet refined feel to them. I didn't even want to roll up the hems (story of my life because I'm not that tall) as I preferred the excess fabric to slouch around my ankles to add to that laid back vibe I've come to love lately. Add a slouchy top and natural hair and I'm ready for the summer festivities Mango has planned!

how to wear: breton stripes

As I was unpacking my suitcase in Barcelona I realised just how much breton stripes I seem to own. I can't even explain how many different variations I have, so much so that I even wear breton stripes to bed! Breton stripes easily are one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe and I'm constantly looking for new ones to invest in. Instant chic that I think suit every shape, race and colour.

Here are a few variations of how I'll be styling this classic staple with the European summer just around the corner, although it does feel a little more on the cooler side in Barcelona right now. Look one is what I'd imagine wearing at the beachside in the French Riveria, look two is perfect for a light brunch with your friends before sailing to Santorini, look three is perfect for sightseeing and romantic sunsets in Florence, and look four is perfect for an evening out on the town in Paris, accompanied with a bright red lip.

And if you're really a fan of breton stripes why not expand outside of fashion and even cover your room in stripes like my hotel has. When I checked in I realised just how much my room turned into an optical illusion with a candy-humbug-lost-somewhere-in-The-Hamptons kind of vibe, especially when I had laid my clothes out on my bed. I guess for me you honestly can't have too much breton stripes!
